FFL Transfers

Professional, compliant firearm transfers in Mission Viejo

Lange Tactical Consulting is a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) and California Firearms Dealer (CFD) serving Mission Viejo and all of Orange County. We handle inbound firearm transfers from out-of-state retailers, online marketplaces, distributors, and other FFLs — quickly, compliantly, and without the stress of a crowded gun-shop counter.

How a transfer works

1. Contact us before you buy. Call 949-291-2986 or email us with the type of firearm, the seller's name, and the expected ship date. We will confirm we can accept the transfer (we cannot accept firearms prohibited under California law — see our Compliance page) and send our FFL license directly to your seller.

Our FFL and CFD numbers are provided directly to sending dealers, distributors, and verified counterparties on request. For license verification, contact us at 949-291-2986 or by email.

2. Complete your purchase with the seller. Tell the seller to ship to Lange Tactical Consulting using the FFL we send them. Do not attempt to send our license yourself — FFL-to-FFL transmission is how we verify the transaction is legitimate and keeps both sides protected.

3. We receive and log your firearm. When your firearm arrives, we log it into our Acquisition and Disposition record as required by ATF regulation, inspect it for obvious damage or shipping issues, and notify you by phone or email to schedule pickup.

4. Schedule your pickup appointment. Transfers are by appointment. Bring the following with you:

  • Valid California driver's license or California ID showing your current address
  • Proof of residency if your ID does not show your current address (utility bill, vehicle registration, property deed, or other DOJ-accepted document)
  • Valid Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC), or plan to take the FSC test at our premises
  • The handgun(s) to be listed on your CCW application, if applicable
  • Payment for transfer, DROS, and FSC fees

5. Complete Form 4473 and DROS. We complete ATF Form 4473 with you and submit the DROS to the California DOJ. You pay the transfer and DROS fees at this appointment.

6. Waiting period. California law requires a 10-day waiting period before the firearm can be released to you, with no exceptions. You must remain eligible at the time of pickup. We will contact you when your firearm is cleared for release.

7. Perform the safe handling demonstration and pick up your firearm. At pickup, you will complete the required safe handling demonstration in our presence, receive your firearm, and leave with documentation for your records.

What we can accept

  • Firearms listed on the California DOJ Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale (for new handguns)
  • Long guns compliant with California law (no unregistered assault weapons, no prohibited configurations)
  • Private party transfers between California residents, processed through our premises as required by state law
  • Curio and Relic firearms, if you hold a valid C&R license, subject to California restrictions

What we cannot accept

  • Firearms not listed on the California DOJ roster, if being transferred as a new handgun
  • Assault weapons as defined by California Penal Code § 30510 and § 30515
  • Firearms with large-capacity magazines included
  • Unserialized firearms, unfinished frames or receivers, or non-compliant barrels
  • Any firearm you are not legally eligible to receive under federal or California law

If you are unsure whether a specific firearm is compliant, contact us before completing the purchase. We would rather answer the question upfront than turn away a firearm after it has been shipped.

Fees

Fees are explained at the time you contact us and are collected at your pickup appointment. Current California DOJ DROS and FSC fees are set by the state and are in addition to our transfer fee. We do not surprise customers with pricing.

Appointment-only service

All transfers are by appointment. Please contact us at 949-291-2986 or by email to initiate a transfer and schedule your pickup.
